Progressive glasses
and lenses

What are progressive lenses?

Clear vision at every distance – without changing glasses

Progressive glasses – also known as varifocal lenses or multifocal lenses – are the most convenient solution for people who need correction for both distance and near vision. A single lens contains three optical zones: distance (upper), intermediate e.g. computer screen (middle) and reading (lower). The transition between zones is seamless – with no visible dividing line.

At proOptyk we specialise in fitting progressive lenses from leading manufacturers – Varilux (Essilor), Hoya, Szajna and JaiKudo. We stock the full product range – from entry-level to premium – matched to the customer's prescription, lifestyle and budget.

Benefits of progressive glasses

Vision without limits

One pair of progressive glasses replaces separate distance and reading glasses. You see clearly regardless of distance – without the need to change frames.

Aesthetics

Progressive lenses look just like standard single vision lenses – there is no visible bifocal line. Modern technology combines functionality with an elegant appearance.

Adaptation comfort

Modern premium progressive lenses (Varilux, Hoya, Szajna) offer wide viewing zones and fast adaptation. Correct fitting by an experienced optometrist is the key to comfort.

Frequently asked questions

Most wearers adapt to progressive glasses within 1–2 weeks. During this time the brain learns to automatically select the correct zone of the lens depending on the viewing distance. Correctly fitted progressive lenses combined with proper guidance on use significantly shorten this period.

Reading glasses correct near vision only – they are simpler and cheaper, but need to be removed for distance viewing. Progressive glasses provide clear vision at all distances without changing frames. If your distance prescription is significant, progressives will be more convenient for everyday use.

Standard progressive glasses have a limited intermediate zone (approximately 60–80 cm). For intensive computer work, office glasses (office or relaxation lenses) are better suited, as their intermediate zone is wider. We can help you find the optimal solution for your workstation.

Varilux (Essilor), Hoya, Szajna and JaiKudo are all progressive lens brands available in our range – each offered in several product lines and price brackets. The choice depends on the prescription, lifestyle and budget. Our optometrist will select the right model after carrying out an eye test and analysing your visual needs.

Formally yes, but correct fitting of progressive lenses requires precise centration measurements and a thorough consultation about the patient's lifestyle. At proOptyk this is done by an experienced optometrist who wears progressive Varilux lenses himself every day.
