Vision behind the wheel

Lenses designed with road safety in mind

Driving places exceptional demands on vision – sunlight glinting off a wet road, being dazzled by headlights at night, the need to judge distances quickly. Standard prescription lenses do not always meet these challenges. That is why for drivers we recommend specially selected lenses with coatings designed for driving.

At proOptyk in Szczecin we select driving glasses taking into account the time of day, type of road and individual prescription. We offer lenses with anti-reflective coatings, polarised lenses and lenses that improve contrast in low light.

What do driving glasses offer?

Glare elimination

An anti-reflective coating eliminates reflections from the windscreen and mirror glare. Polarised lenses block horizontal reflections from wet road surfaces and water – essential when driving on a sunny day.

Better night driving

The right anti-reflective coating significantly reduces the "starburst" effect around light sources and eye fatigue when driving at night. We select coatings specifically designed for night-time driving.

Contrast and depth

Contrast-enhancing lenses help you judge distances and spot road details more easily. This is particularly important in changeable weather conditions – fog, rain and overcast skies.

Frequently asked questions

Polarised lenses work excellently during the day – they eliminate reflections from wet road surfaces and windscreens. Note: they may make it harder to read certain LCD displays (e.g. sat-nav, information boards) as they block polarised light. We do not recommend them for night driving – in the dark, a standard anti-reflective coating works better.

If you have a refractive error – yes. Prescription driving glasses require a current prescription. If you do not normally wear correction, you can choose lenses with coatings (anti-reflective, polarised) without correction. In either case it is worth starting with an eye test to ensure your vision meets the requirements for driving.

Yes, progressive glasses can be worn while driving – the distance zone is in the upper part of the lens, which corresponds to the natural direction of gaze when driving. However, it is important that the lenses are correctly centred and fitted to the face shape. A good anti-reflective coating designed for driving is particularly important here.

Lenses with a dedicated anti-reflective coating for drivers typically cost around 100–200 PLN more than a standard coating. Polarised lenses with prescription correction start from approximately 300–400 PLN per pair. Come in for a consultation – we will find the best solution for your budget and driving style.
